Welcome to the world’s first shot at a site that takes an average Internet user and walks them through every step of the web site design process.
You see, there are two types of learning sites – those that pick an area of the web like CSS or Photoshop and then teach away. Then there are sites run by people that decide that with all their web experience they want to teach on many different topics. So many, that they end up with a site covering any and every random thing that pops into their mind. Great if you know what you’re looking for - but not very helpful if you are new to web design.
We have decided that it is time to create a new type of site. The goal of Code2Design is to take someone by the hand and walk them through all there is to know about coding and designing the best sites on the web. The same approach I only wish was around back when I had to learn web design by traveling to hundreds of sites trying to piece together all of the elements that make the web what it is.
Code2design started as just another site on which people from all over the world joined a forum to learn the world’s coolest server-side language – PHP. However, there is more to a website than PHP, and this was the result of a desire to share more about the world of design, and the intricate details that cultivate a great idea into reality.
As you may know already, this is a heavily Christ-oriented site. Why? Well if you want to hear six good reasons you can read Everystudent.com’s page - or the more logic-orientated Proof that God exists site.
Personally, I have seen the change that comes over people. I have seen more prayers answered than I could humanly make up excuses for, and I have felt the void of emptiness that most people who stand back and look at their life feel. Why? What does life matter? All that I have I will lose when I die and all that I am will be lost.
The reason that I am a Christian isn’t because I was born into a Christian family or that I am too unreasonable to see true science. It is because I see that I am a sinner and I believe that God loved me enough to send His son to take my place – to die for my sins on the cross and take my punishment, my place - so I can become a part of God’s family.
If you don’t like caring for others before yourself, occasionally hearing about God’s standards for right and wrong, that a missionary risked their life to help someone in anther country, or that being gay is a choice - a wrong choice, then you might not like this site much. But hey, that is between you and God. You’re still welcome here, and God still loves you.
C2D started as the brainchild of David, who wanted to use the gifts God had blessed him with to teach others. David is currently working as an IT guy to provide for his Mom and younger brother and sister - while trying to finish his college. He is usually floating around the forums harassing people or asking for hugs. If you have a question he would be a good person to ask!
If you think that you would like to help write for C2D please contact David. Remember, this is your site! If you know something that others could learn from please post it here so that we can all learn from your talent!
